Multiple patients have sustained serious injuries following a multi-vehicle collision on the P100 in the Canelands area of Verulam on Friday evening.
KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the scene after receiving numerous requests for urgent medical assistance from residents and passing motorists.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a chaotic scene after a heavy motor vehicle allegedly lost control and collided with multiple vehicles before coming to rest near an informal settlement.
Due to the severity of the incident and the number of patients involved, additional KZN VIP ambulances and Advanced Life Support paramedics were immediately dispatched to assist.
Several occupants were trapped within the wreckage. KZN VIP medics, together with various emergency service stakeholders, worked tirelessly to safely extricate the injured patients before stabilising them under advanced life support care.
