Emer-G-Med together with Netcare911 and multiple emergency service agencies responded to the M41 on-ramp to the M4 southbound in the Umhlanga Ridge area.
On arrival on the scene, teams were met with absolute mayhem as reports indicate that a fully laden truck ploughed into multiple light motor vehicles.
Multiple people were left with injuries ranging from minor to moderate with one pregnant female motorist being left with serious injuries.
She was treated and stabilized on the scene before being airlifted with the assistance of the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that she required.
The traffic in the area was severely affected as the roadway was closed to allow emergency workers to clear the scene.
