Multiple crashes on High Terrace Road in Crossmoor area, Durban

Scores of people including children have been injured after multiple accidents in and around Durban on Monday morning.

Just after 06:30 Rescue Care Paramedics were called to High Terrace Road in Crossmoor area of Chatsworth. Two taxis carrying school children had collided leaving multiply injured. More ambulances were dispatched to the scene to assist. Approximately twenty children were stabilised on the scene before they were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

Just before 7 am Rescue Care Paramedics were called to John Zikali Road near Greyville Race Course where a seven-year-old boy was knocked down by a vehicle on his way to school. He had sustained moderate injuries and Advanced Life Support paramedics stabilised him on the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required.

Around 8 am Rescue Care Paramedics then attended to two taxis that had collided on the corner of Alice Street and Russell Street in the CBD. A total of six patients were stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

On the M4 Durban Bound near Quality Street, two vehicles collided in a rear end collision just after 08:30 am. Paramedics found that three people had sustained various injuries and were treated on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

SAPS were on all the scenes and will be investigating further.
