Motorist arrested after fatally crashing into a JMPD traffic warden in Eldorado Park

A 28-year-old male motorist was arrested on charges of culpable homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol, and failing to stop at an accident scene by Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers on the N12 West between Golden Highway and K43 in Eldorado Park.

On Saturday 02 July 2022 at about 03h00am JMPD officers and Traffic Wardens from By-Laws Management Unit were attending two accident scenes on the N12 West between Golden Highway and K43 in Eldorado Park.

Whilst attending to the accident scenes a beige Renault Sandero drove at a high speed hitting a 37-year-old female JMPD Traffic Warden, Luleka Sobetshe.

The driver of the Sandero then failed to stop after striking Traffic Warden Sobetshe. Officers on the scene gave chase and managed to apprehend the driver.

Emergency Services were called and unfortunately, Traffic Warden Sobetshe was declared deceased on the scene.
