The Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula will unveil a new phase of the Taxi Recapitalisation Programme, following approval by Cabinet to implement the programme in a revised format.
Since the implementation of the Taxi Recapitalisation Programme in 2005, 72 600 old and unsafe taxis have been scrapped.
The government subsequently conducted a review of the programme in order to maximise its impact and accelerate the realization of its objectives.
Media is invited to join the Minister for the scrapping of illegally modified panel vans, marking the implementation of the revised Taxi Recapitalisation Programme.
