The MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Sipho Hlomuka has called on major bus operators to work together with the government in aiding transformation in the bus sector.
MEC Hlomuka was addressing the Southern African Bus Operations Association (SABOA) meeting in Durban today, 14th March 2023.
MEC Hlomuka said both the department and the operators need to find progressive solutions that could take the issues of transformation forward.
"As a government we remain committed to issues of transformation.We want you to work with us in championing transformation. We believe that as SABOA you have an important role to play in imparting knowledge and skills and mentoring small emerging operators," said MEC Hlomuka.
KZN Chairperson of SABOA Suveer Maharaj said they remained committed to transformation and already had many small bus operators as part of their organisation.
