A short while ago Medi Response responded to Umhlanga pier for reports of a shooting.
On arrival of paramedics, it was reported that a male was walking on the pier when a man approached him and allegedly produced a firearm, shooting him once in the stomach, before fleeing.
The suspect was apprehended and detained by security.
Medi Response advanced life support paramedics initiated an advanced life support resuscitation but after extensive attempts, the man was declared dead on the scene.
The South African Police will investigate further.
