Earlier this afternoon Emer-G-Med Paramedics responded to the scene of a collision involving a light motor vehicle and a truck on the N3 near the Malboro Road area.
On arrival on the scene a light motor vehicle was found to have been crushed by the truck, leaving the driver, an elderly male severely entrapped in the wreckage.
An emergency care practitioner stabilized the man whilst Fire and Rescue services worked for over an hour and a half to cut him free using the Jaws-of-life.
Once free the man was airlifted with the assistance of the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that he required.
The driver of the truck suffered moderate injuries and was treated and stabilized on the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care….
