KwaZulu-Natal: Jaws of Life used to free passenger in a taxi crash in Durban

KwaZulu-Natal: At 16H42 Monday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on Pineside Road in Falcon Industrial Park New Germany, Durban West Region.

Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a mini-bus taxi lost control resulting in the taxi crashing through the safety barrier, through a boundry fence then rolling and crashing upside down on one vehicle and damaging another.

Medics from Rescue Care and a Netcare 911 Rescue Technician found that most people sustained minor to moderate injuries.

One of the front seat passengers, an adult male had sustained moderate injuries and was trapped in the wreckage.

The Fire and Rescue Services used hydraulic tools to free the man while Medics worked to stabilise him.

Once treated all the patients were transported by ambulance to the hospital for further treatment.

All necessary authorities were on the scene.
