JHB rains: numerous crashes this morning including two involving minibus taxi's leaving 15 injured.

At approximately 07h25 on Saturday 27 January 2018, Netcare 911 responded to reports that a minibus taxi had overturned in the bends on Barry Hertzog Avenue between the bridge and Empire Road in Parktown.

Paramedics from Netcare 911 and other services attended to ten patients at the scene, fortunately they were all in a stable condition. Three patients had sustained moderate injuries and seven had sustained relatively minor injuries. All ten were transported by ambulances to different hospitals in the area for further assessment and care.
The JMPD were at the scene and are investigating the incident.

In another incident around 08H10, five people escaped with relatively minor injuries when a minibus taxi and a car collided at the intersection of Harry Galaun Drive and Segal street in Midrand.
The five were transported by different ambulance services to hospital for further care.
The JMPD were also at the scene.

Please be cautious in the rain:
There has been good rainfall through Johannesburg this morning which unfortunately has kept paramedics very busy attending to numerous crash scenes.
Motorists are encouraged to switch their headlights on to make their vehicle more visible and to increase their safety by keeping a safe (larger than normal) following distance. Please approach crash scenes with caution, slow down slowly- well in advance, to prevent harsh breaking which may result in a skid and potential secondary collisions.
