As many fleets either make the transition to electric vehicles (EV) or investigate the process of changing from internal combustion engines (ICE) to EVs, how can companies compensate drivers when they recharge at home? A number of potential solutions are already available.

The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says planning for this is important because if an employee recharges overnight, valuable time is saved. “While public charging points are available for recharging, even on a fast charge it takes double the time a fuel refill does. This places extra pressure on drivers, reduces productivity and can take away essential rest time from employees.

“All of this affects the business negatively – driving recklessly as extra time is lost, lower revenues and fatigued drivers are challenges that should be improved, or at least not affected, rather than worsened by EVs.
