Fourteen injured, one killed in R56 taxi collision

Fourteen people were injured and one person was killed when a taxi and a car collided with each other along the R56 near Anderson’s Garage outside of Richmond, KwaZulu-Natal.

Shortly after 9.30am on Saturday morning, paramedics from ER24 and other services arrived on the scene where they found the taxi lying on its roof. Majority of the patients were ejected from the taxi. Sadly, one person sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene. Fourteen others were treated for various injuries before they were transported to hospitals in the area. Two people from a light motor vehicle were treated and transported by another medical service. 

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision is not yet known. Local authorities attended the scene and will investigate.
