Late this morning Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service responded to the N2 near Umtentweni for reports of a collision.
When emergency services arrived they found that 2 vehicles had been involved in a head on collision, causing one vehicle to overturn and leave the road, coming to a stop approximately 10 meters down an embankment.
Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that 5 patients had sustained serious injuries.
With the assistance from Ray Nkonyeni Fire and Rescue services, Paramedics from multiple service stabilized and hoisted the patients up the embankment using specialized equipment.
The patient were them transported to hospital for further treatment.
Sadly 1 occupant sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to their injuries before emergency services arrived.
The cause of the collision is not known but authorities are investigating….
