At approximately 22h20 on Saturday Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a serious multiple-vehicle collision on Allendale Road.
On arrival on scene three vehicles were found to have collided at high speed and high impact.
A male aged in his fifties, suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics whilst four other people were treated for injuries ranging from minor to moderate and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.
