Eleven children injured in collision on the R56 near Thornville, Pietermaritzburg

Eleven children between the ages of five and eight years old sustained minor injuries when a truck collided into the taxi they were traveling in. The collision occurred along the R56 near Thornville, Pietermaritzburg shortly before 3 pm this afternoon.

Paramedics from ER24 and other services that arrived on the scene found the children sitting on a nearby Armco barrier. They were assessed and later transported to a nearby hospital for further care. The driver of the truck and taxi were not injured.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision is not yet known.
