Eastern Cape Transport MEC apologises for road closure after Cash-In-Transit Heist

Eastern Cape Transport MEC apologises for road closure after Cash-In-Transit Heist

The road closure was due to a Cash-in-Transit heist by a group of men armed with rifles and explosives, who stopped a cash-in-transit vehicle and bombed it before fleeing the scene. Police investigators and other specialised crime scene experts had to be called in to assist in the investigation. They took time combing the scene for any clues that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of this crime which led to the lengthy road closure.

MEC Nqatha has admitted that the closure was not ideal, but it was a necessary exercise in a bid to nab the perpetrators and hopefully put an end to the spate of heists in the province in recent months.
