The vigilance by members of Strand SAPS led to the arrest of a 40-year-old suspect for the possession of drugs on Friday morning 25 August 2023. The members were busy with patrols in Smith Street, Strand when they pulled over a suspicious vehicle and searched it. The members then found 106 mandrax tablets, four packets of crystal meth and four bundles of Khat inside the vehicle.
In an unrelated intervention member of Operation Restore searched a premises in Anysberg Street, Heideveld and arrested a 48-year-old man for the possession of mandrax. The members followed up on information about alleged drug activities at the premises, and found and confiscated ten mandrax tablets. The suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Athlone and Strand Magistrates' courts on Monday….
