Disruptive operations against illegal mining continue to yield results as two suspected illegal miners are arrested and mining equipment seized

The sustained illegal mining operations conducted by members of the Provincial Organized Crime Investigation Unit, assisted by other Units and the local Police, continue to yield positive results as two suspects were arrested and mining equipment seized in the Mecklenburg policing area outside Burgersfort today, Tuesday 14 March 2023.

The Team operationalized the information received on illegal mining at Ga-Phasha, Selotela Village which led to the arrest of two suspects at about 09:00, after they were found illegally mining Chrome.

Police seized the following mining equipment:

*03x lasher Wheelbarrows.

*01x Generator.

*01x Jackhammer.

*01x Electronic cable.

The operation continued in this area and additional mining equipment were found abandoned and confiscated as well.
