The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Cable Theft Unit attended a complaint on Tuesday 22 August 2023 about people who were busy with electricity reconnections in Theresa Park, North of Pretoria.
Upon arrival, they found two male suspects aged between 25 and 35 busy tampering with an electrical box. The suspects who are confirmed to be City of Tshwane contractors could not provide necessary identification documents to the officers.
It was also discovered that there was no job card issued for the reconnection. Both suspects were then arrested for tempering with essential infrastructures and will appear in court soon.
In a separate incident, Another suspect was arrested in Waltloo by TMPD Region 6 members for Possession of suspected stolen property. The suspect was found at Waltloo Electricity Depot in possession of suspected stolen electricity cables and equipment.
