At least fourteen injured in collision on the N3 west near Keyridge, Pietermaritzburg

At least fourteen people were injured in a collision between a taxi and a truck on the N3 west near Keyridge, Pietermaritzburg this afternoon.

Shortly after 4.30pm, paramedics from ER24 and local EMS arrived on scene where they found the taxi still wedged against the front of the truck. Several occupants from the taxi were found outside near the vehicle. It is unclear if they were ejected and if they were assisted out of the vehicle.

One person was found with serious injuries. His injuries ranged from multiple fractures to lacerations. The remainder of the occupants were treated for various injuries ranging from lacerations to soft tissue injuries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision is not yet known. Local authorities attended the scene.
