An Armed Response Officer (ARO) was shot during an attempted robbery in the Verulam CBD – KZN.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were on patrol on Moss Street when they responded to the sound of a gunshot. RUSA Members discovered an Armed Response Officer (ARO) with a gunshot injury to his leg.
According to the victim, he was confronted by an armed suspect while standing next to his branded vehicle. He drew his firearm in an attempt to neutralise the situation when the suspect shot him and fled empty-handed.
It is believed that the suspect intended to rob him of his firearm. The injured Officer is employed at a Security Company based in Verulam – KZN.
A spent 9mm cartridge was recovered at the scene.
