Approximately 19 injured after taxi and car collide on Helpmekaar road in Ladysmith

Approximately 19 people were injured after a taxi and a vehicle collided on Helpmekaar road in Ladysmith this morning.

At about 08h30, ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that a person was ejected from the taxi. Another patient was still entrapped in the taxi and was later extricated by ER24 and provincial emergency services personnel.

Approximately 15 patients sustained moderate to serious injuries in the collision. Four more people were in a critical condition and they were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care by ER24 and other emergency services on scene.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not yet known to our paramedics but local authorities were on the scene for investigations.
