A 5-year-old was left in a serious condition after experiencing a near-drowning incident in Scottburgh

IPSS Medical Rescue responded to reports of a drowning at a hotel in Scottburgh on the KZN South Coast.

On arrival of paramedics, it was established that a 5-year-old girl got into difficulty whilst swimming in the hotel pool. On-site clinic staff performed CPR and managed to successfully resuscitate the child.

She was stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital under the care of an IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support paramedic.

This is the second near-drowning incident today. Once again, early CPR prevented a more tragic outcome.
