2 Airlifted, 13 others injured in head-on collision between a minibus taxi and an SUV in Centurion

At approximately 07h30 on Tuesday morning 13 February 2018, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a very serious collision on Tulip Road at Lochner Road in Mnandi Agricultural Holdings, Centurion.

Reports from the scene indicate that an SUV and a minibus taxi were involved in a partial head-on collision.

Paramedics from Netcare 911, other private ambulance services as well as the Provincial EMS, Fire Fighters and police all attended to the incident.

Paramedics attended to fifteen patients at the scene: four had sustained severe injuries, seven had sustained moderate to serious injuries and four had sustained relatively minor to moderate injuries.

Two of the critical patients from the minibus taxi was airlifted from the scene, the other thirteen patients were stabilised at the scene before being transported by ambulances from various services to different hospitals for further care.

Fire Fighters used the “Jaws of Life” to free some of the injured who were trapped in the mangled minibus taxi.

Police were at the scene and are investigating the incident and any preceding events.
