It was established that the cyclist lost control of the bicycle, resulting in a head-on collision with the taxi.
The patient sustained suspected fractures to the jaw and shoulder and was found to be in significant pain. Members of the Boschkop CPF arrived first, ensuring the patient remained still and warm while awaiting additional medical resources.
A PVES Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) arrived shortly thereafter and initiated advanced patient care. The patient received intravenous Perfalgan and morphine for pain management while being continuously monitored on scene.
Responders continued to provide ongoing care and took measures to prevent hypothermia by keeping the patient warm with multiple blankets and additional environmental protection until transport to hospital was available.
Once a Gauteng Emergency Medical Services (GPG) ambulance arrived, the patient was transported to a medical facility for further assessment and definitive care.
