A 27-year-old motorist lost his life after swerving to avoid a cow on Ndondolo Road in Ndwedwe – KZN this afternoon (Tuesday, 09/06/2026).
Witnesses informed First Responders that the driver was travelling in a silver Hyundai Getz when a cow entered the roadway. In an attempt to avoid the animal, he lost control of the vehicle.
The car collided with a roadside water drainage system, veered onto an embankment and overturned onto its side, sustaining extensive damage in the process. The driver was ejected approximately twenty (20) metres from the wreckage and suffered multiple injuries.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the incident at approximately 14:42 and discovered the South African Police Service (SAPS) already in attendance.
Paramedics from a private ambulance service attended to the driver and established that he had sustained fatal injuries.
The cow was not located and the owner of the animal has not been identified….
