A tragic accident near Standerton claimed multiple lives early this morning, just before dawn.
The collision occurred approximately 5km outside Standerton on the road towards Morgenzon when a taxi and a bus collided head-on.
According to information received at the scene, eight passengers travelling in the taxi were killed in the crash. Four other passengers sustained serious injuries, while one passenger suffered moderate injuries.
All injured patients were transported to Standerton Hospital for medical treatment.
The exact cause of the horrific accident is still unknown at this stage and investigations are expected to continue.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) remain on the scene….
