Taxi crashes into tree leaving thirteen injured on Zwartkops Road in Boughton, Pietermaritzburg

Thirteen people were left injured this morning when a taxi crashed into a tree on Zwartkops Road in Boughton, Pietermaritzburg.
ER24 paramedics, along with Fire and other services, arrived on the scene at 08:15 to find the taxi on the side of the road against a large tree. Several people were found either walking around on the scene or seated on the sidewalk. One woman was found lying trapped inside the vehicle.
Fire Services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the woman from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics assessed the patients and found that thirteen people had sustained minor to moderate injuries.
Paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to Northdale, Edendale and Greys Provincial hospital for further care.
The local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
