Despite not hitting the headlines like their inland countrymen the Lions, the Stormers will receive the Africa 1 Conference trophy after their Super Rugby clash with the Southern Kings at Newlands on Saturday.
The Stormers took an unassailable lead at the top of the Super Rugby Africa 1 conference log well ahead of their nearest rivals – the Bulls. Going into the final game of the regular season the Stormers have 46 points, while the Bulls have 37.
Winning their two matches on the trot in Australia confirmed their status as one of the leading teams in the competition.
The Stormers have won three of the last five South African conferences before this season.
The Cape outfit will host a New Zealand team at Newlands in the playoffs.
