Hawk-Eye targets 2015 Rugby World Cup as TMO system replacement

Hawk-Eye, the ball-tracking technology company, has held talks with the International Rugby Board about providing a replacement to the controversial television match official system ahead of the 2015 World Cup.

Hawk-Eye, which was first used as a broadcast tool to analyse decisions in cricket, has expanded into a variety of sports including tennis, snooker, Australian Rules and goal-line systems in football, hopes to convince the world governing body that investment in its vision processing technology would dramatically improve the TMO system.
