Crisis talks between striking Eastern Province Kings players and SA Rugby Players’ Association (Sarpa) officials will take place in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday morning in a bid to defuse a simmering pay dispute.

On Tuesday‚ Kings players had a meeting to discuss the non-payment of their salaries and decided against training.

This has placed Eastern Province’s Currie Cup match against the Lions on Saturday in jeopardy.

EP Kings president Cheeky Watson shrugged off the player mutiny‚ saying he was “extremely happy the players have taken a day off” after a string of tough games. – The Herald
