A proud charity of the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA has enjoyed tremendous support from event entrants with an impressive total of R67 530 donated to the cause after the 2018 event.

“We are thankful to each and every runner that showed their support by choosing to make a donation towards the Cape of Good Hope SPCA when entering the 2018 FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.  “The SPCA works tirelessly to help Cape Town’s stray and abandoned animals.  As a proudly Cape Town event, we are delighted to be able to show our support.  We look forward to continue growing the relationship in 2019.”

“We have been an official event charity since 2016, ironically the same year that we officially opened our newly constructed Animal Care Centre,” said Natasha Johannes, Fundraising Officer Cape of Good Hope SPCA.  “This facility by its very design contributes to both the psychological and physiological well-being of our animals. Our animals are kept in clean, spacious and warm environments. With 228 dog kennels and 36 cat rooms, we are able to accommodate more animals than ever before.  Our journey with the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN has been a remarkable one.  Through our partnership thousands of stray, abandoned, rescued and impounded cats and dogs have benefitted.”

“The FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN is an amazing event,” continues Johannes.  “We love the people and we love the vibe.   We are truly appreciative for the spectacular donation received.  No words can describe the joy of being able to care for as many fur babies as we possibly can.  The funds covered at least 15% of the medical bills incurred by our adoption centre.  This year for the first time ever we will offer runners, who donate R200 or more, a free limited edition SPCA branded running t-shirt.  This will be our first running t-shirt to carry our new brand statement.”

Established in 1872, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is the founding society of the SPCA movement in South Africa and is the oldest animal welfare organisation in the country. A registered non-profit organisation and Public Benefit Organisation, the society relies on the support of concerned individuals and corporates to continue operating.
