Established in 1988, Reach For A Dream (RFAD) seeks to inspire hope and help children to believe in the power of dreams.

“We are grateful to be selected as a beneficiary of the inaugural Absa RUN YOUR CITY TSHWANE 10K,” says Chloe Katompa, Reach for A Dream Gauteng Regional Manager. “We’re a beneficiary of the Gqeberha, Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg events and the proceeds raised to date have allowed us to positively impact the lives of children who are fighting a life-threatening illness.  The ability to raise funds again through this platform, especially during these very unforeseen times, is an incredible opportunity for us. We can’t wait to experience the comradery and uplifting energy of the event day. To each entrant, thank you for believing in the power of dreams.”

Cotlands is a registered non-profit organisation that focuses on early childhood development (ECD) with a rich 87-year history of serving young, vulnerable children. Cotlands’ vision is to see children thrive in their formative years by increasing their access to quality play-based early learning opportunities.

“We are proud and excited to be selected as one of the charities of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY TSHWANE 10K,” says Dr Monica Stach, Cotlands CEO. “The platform allows us to raise much needed awareness for our cause. Every child deserves access to quality educational resources, including toys and games, to develop social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Unfortunately, not all families have the financial means to provide these resources for their children. Together we can make a difference and help ensure every child has access to the educational resources that they need to succeed.”

A registered non-profit animal rescue and shelter, the Tshwane SPCA’s doors have been open for 113 years. Serving a region of 6200sqkm, the Tshwane SPCA rescues abused and neglected domestic and farm animals, promotes responsible pet ownership, provides a shelter for strays and a veterinary service for pets of underprivileged people.

“As a charity of the inaugural Absa RUN YOUR CITY TSHWANE 10K we will get the opportunity to raise awareness about our mission, while generating much needed funds to support our programs and activities,” says Sonal Valla, Chairperson Tshwane SPCA. “Our doors are only open because of the support of the community as we do not get any funding from the Government. We have many projects that we would like to embark on but are limited in our capacity as we just do not have the necessary funds. We welcome any form of support, monetary, donation of dog and/or cat food and cat litter to mention just a few ways in which the public can make a difference. No donation is too small. We can’t wait to share the day with runners. If there is one message that we’d like to get across it would be the importance of sterilising and micro chipping your fur-kids.”
