The Totalsports Women’s Race organizers are thrilled to collaborate with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, in conjunction with Western Province Athletics, to jointly host the Cape Town edition of the Totalsports Women’s Race, which will also include the renowned Big Walk, on Sunday, 01 October 2023.

“We’re delighted to collaborate with an event that not only has a storied legacy but also prioritizes the promotion of healthy living and mental well-being,” states Nikki Crous, Head of Marketing at Totalsports. “Sport has the remarkable capacity to transform lives, and we take great pride in contributing our share. We extend a warm invitation to every runner and supporter to join us in this endeavor. We can’t wait to celebrate the resilience and strength of women during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, all the while emphasizing the significance of a wholesome lifestyle and mental wellness. Come join us in this celebration of women, well-being, and so much more.”

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) is proudly co-hosting the Totalsports Women’s Race, under the auspices of Western Province Association (WPA), taking place on Sunday 01 October 2023. Moreover, this event aligns with The Association for International Sport for All (TAFISA) – World Walking Day Initiative, which supports DCAS’ commitment to fostering an active community. DCAS is dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles and mental wellness of its staff members and their families. By co-hosting the Totalsports Women’s Race, DCAS celebrates physical activity and mental well-being. Having families that walk together, talk together makes a positive impact to a productive working and social life.

Minister Anroux Marais Provincial MEC for DCAS, an avid walker, will START and participate in the 5km. This is what she has to say:

“It is very important that we focus on the holistic wellbeing of all the people of the Western Cape. Living active lifestyles is not only important for physical health but also promotes mental wellbeing. Our department remains committed to creating a healthy and connected Western Cape Province and I will proudly join this walk to promote active lifestyles.”

“DCAS, by co-hosting the Totalsports Women’s Race, sees this as a steppingstone to a Provincial Walk – ‘The Big Walk – for the active you!!’ – taking place on the first Sunday of October 2024!”
