In light of the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa event organisers, Stillwater Sports, have released an adapted calendar of events for the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN with the exclusion of the THIRSTI AFRICANX 2-Day XPLORE that was scheduled to take place at the Van Gaalen Kaasmakerij, Hartbeespoort (North West Province) in August 2021.
“With South Africa only recently entering the third wave of the pandemic, there is currently no indication on when restrictions will begin to ease,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and founder of the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN. “Instead of making the call at short notice, we have decided to cancel the 2-Day XPLORE (in the North West Province) sooner rather than later as a two-day event requires additional planning from the entrants’ side. Existing entrants can request a full refund. As a show of gratitude these entrants also have the option to transfer their entries to the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-Day Stage Race that will take place at the Houw Hoek Hotel (Western Cape) in March 2022 or the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 2-Day XPLORE that will take place at Normandien Farms (Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal) in April 2022. Although the entry fees for these two events are slightly higher, the existing entrants will not be required to cover the difference.”
“The adapted THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN calendar of events includes the 1-Day XPERIENCE in the Western Cape in September 2021, the 3-Day Stage Race in the Western Cape in March 2022 and the 2-Day XPLORE in KwaZulu-Natal in April 2022,” continues Meyer. “Entries are open for all three of these events. To add to the excitement, in 2022 we will also host a 1-Day XPERIENCE in Gauteng and a 2-Day XPLORE in the North West Province, which will mean that there will be five events in the 2022 THIRSTI AFRICANX calendar of events. The dates and venues of these exciting events will be released at a later stage. We can’t wait to welcome runners to the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN, starting with the September event.”

Venue: Paul Cluver Wine Estate, Grabouw (Western Cape)
Format: 1-Day Trail Run
Entry Format: Individual Entry

• OPTION 1: 6km / R100
• OPTION 2: 12km / R350
• OPTION 3: 24km / R600
• OPTION 4: 42km / R950
2. THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-Day Stage Race
Date: Saturday 19 – Monday 21 March 2022
Venue: Houw Hoek Hotel (Western Cape)
Format: 3-Day Stage Trail Run
Entry Format: Teams of Two Runners (male / female / mixed)
Entry Fees:
• OPTION 1: R3600 per runner
• OPTION 2: R4200 per runner
• OPTION 3: R4600 per runner
3. THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 2-Day XPLORE
Date: Saturday 09 – Sunday 10 April 2022
Venue: Normandien Farms (Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal)
Format: 2-Day Stage Trail Run
Entry Format: Individual Entry
Entry Fees: R2950 per runner
In light of the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 2-Day XPLORE at Van Gaalen Kaasmakerij (Hartbeespoort/North West Province) being cancelled, existing entrants have three options to choose from:
Existing Entrant Options:
1. Transfer your entry to the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-Day Stage Race that will take place at the Houw Hoek Hotel (Western Cape) on Saturday 19 – Monday 21 March 2022.
2. Transfer your entry to the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 2-Day XPLORE that will take place at Normandien Farms (Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal) on Saturday 09 – Sunday 10 April 2022.
3. Request a full refund.
Existing entrants will receive direct correspondence from Stillwater Sports where they will be given the opportunity to select their preferred option.
