The Ultimate Fighting Championship currently has 12 weight classes and divisions and each division are referred to a particular group class. Fighters across these weight classes are ranked according to their performances inside the Octagon, usually on the basis of their fights in a UFC pay-per-view event or a Fight Night. UFC rankings of these fighters are generally based on their overall performance.

The UFC rankings and the fighters of a particular weight class usually help in generating all the major UFC news that revolves around the promotion.

The initial UFC weight class is the Strawweight Division and the highest-ranked UFC weight class in the Heavyweight Division. The UFC rankings, which were introduced in February of 2013, are generated by a voting panel made up of several media members. In order to rank these fighters, the media members are asked to vote who they feel are the top fighters as per the UFC by weight class and pound-for-pound.

Strawweight Division:

The Strawweight Division in Mixed Martial Arts generally refers to competitors weighing between 106 and 115 lb (48 to 52 kg).

Flyweight Division:

The Flyweight Division in Mixed Martial Arts as defined by the Nevada State Athletic Comission combat sports doctrine and by the Association of Boxing Comissions groups together all competitors from 125 lb (57 kg) and below. The Flyweight Division sits between the Strawweight Division (106 lbs-115 lbs) and the Bantamweight Division (126 lbs-135lbs).

Featherweight Division:

The Featherweight Division in Mixed Martial Arts refers to a particular group class. The UFC Featherweight fighters generally weigh between 136 to 145 lb. 

Lightweight Division:

The Lightweight Division in Mixed Martial Arts contains different weight classes. The UFC Lightweight Division, in particular, limits fighters within 146-155 lb (66-70 kg). The UFC Lightweight Division is between the Featherweight and Welterweight Division. The current UFC Lightweight Division is also considered as one of the most stacked UFC Weight Classes. 

Welterweight Division:

The Welterweight Division in Mixed Martial Arts contains different weight classes. The UFC Welterweight Division contains a group which weighs within 156 to 170 lb (71 to 77 kg). The UFC Welterweight Division is between the Lightweight and Middleweight Division.

Middleweight Division:

The Middleweight Division in Mixed Martial Arts refers to different weight classes. The UFC Middleweight Fighters generally compete within 171 to 185 lb (77.5 to 84 kg). 

Light Heavyweight Division:

The Light Heavyweight Division is a weight class in combat sports. The Light Heavyweight Division in MMA contains different weight classes. The UFC Light Heavyweight Division limits between 186.1 lb to 205 lb (84 to 93 kg).

Heavyweight Division:

The Heavyweight division in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) generally groups fighters between 206–265 lb (93.4–120.2 kg).
