Set to take Paul Cluver Wines (Grabouw, Western Cape) by storm on Saturday 18 September 2021, the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 1-Day XPERIENCE will treat trail runners to a sensational route experience like no other!
“The THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN is synonymous with magnificent trails, spectacular views, mouth-watering food, a relaxed atmosphere and great vibe,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the event. “Whether a seasoned trail runner or newcomer to the sport, you are guaranteed to be left in awe of the sensational routes on offer at the AFRICANX TRAILRUN 1-Day XPERIENCE. The 41km event will boast a total climb of 1160m and will feature Paul Cluver’s most iconic trails including trails that are usually closed to the public. Look forward to experiencing a good mix of fast, open trails, smooth single track and of course more technical terrain. Based on the variety of terrain combined with the views, climbs and descents, this route could be considered trail running heaven and is aimed at the experienced runner that is looking for a challenge!”
“The 24km event will boast a total climb of 750m and will feature a good mix of open, fast trails, smooth single track and some technical terrain,” continues Meyer. “This route offers the perfect balance between exciting trails and beautiful views. Runners taking on this route should have a good level of fitness. Some technical skills and experience are required. If you are fit and looking for a good challenge, but also want to enjoy the ‘on and off’ route experience, this event is for you. The 12km event on the other hand will include a total climb of 380m and is ideal for all trail runners who are looking to push themselves beyond 10km or road runners who are looking for a challenge on the trails. This route will also be a great introduction to what the Paul Cluver Trails have to offer. Expect a good mix of farm roads that go past orchards and vineyards, and fun single track. Although a reasonable level of fitness is required, advanced technical skills are not a necessity. Finally, the 6km event is the perfect family event that is suited to young and old. It’s ideal for newcomers to the sport that would like to experience the AFRICANX vibe!”
