THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN ambassadors Nonhlakanipho Tau (Randburg), Franza Landman (East London) and Blake Dyason (Hout Bay, Cape Town) are eagerly counting down the days to the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 2-Day XPLORE that will take place at the Van Gaalen Cheese Farm (Hartbeespoort, North West Province) on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August 2022.
“Not being able to travel, I’ve really missed trail running and racing,” says Tau. “With the THIRSTI AFRICANX now being hosted closer to home, I can finally enjoy the trails again. I love the AFRICANX events and having them accessible to this part of the country is great. I am also excited by the fact that AFRICANX now features a 2-Day Stage Race. It’s an opportunity that I don’t want to miss. I’m looking forward to the vibe in the race village and enjoying the serenity of the nature around Van Gaalen. I also know that they serve the best food and coffee. I am really looking forward to spending the entire weekend there. I would recommend AFRICANX to all runners! It gives you the ultimate ‘Trail’ experience. The XPLORE and XPERIENCE races are an opportunity for those new to trail running to be part of AFRICANX. This is the perfect opportunity to get a taste of AFRICANX without having to fly to Cape Town, YET.”
“I am so excited that AFRICANX will be in the North West Province, where I lived most my life before moving to East London,” says Landman. “I just can’t miss out on the AFRICANX vibe in that region and sharing it with fellow runners and friends from that side. To see them enjoying themselves at the event will give me so much satisfaction. I believe once they have experienced this event, they are guaranteed to start making plans to be at the flagship event, the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-DAY Stage Race that will take place in the Western Cape in 2023. There is just something about this race that keeps you coming back for more. I will take it easy at the 2-Day XPLORE as I will be taking part in Comrades one week later. My goal is to have as much fun as I can! I would most definitely recommend AFRICANX to all runners. I will even go so far as to challenge road runners to come and explore the trails. The AFRICANX XPLORE will feature the most exciting ‘runnable’ routes!”
