Comrades Marathon Champion (2016) Charne Bosman will step out of her comfort zone the weekend of 26 – 28 March 2021 when she takes on South Africa’s premier three-day stage trail run, the AfricanX Trailrun at the Houw Hoek Hotel (Bot River, Overberg Region / Western Cape).

Bosman’s 27-year career in running has seen her rake in an impressive list of achievements including:  SA Cross Country Champion (1999 – 2002), Two Oceans Half Marathon Champion (2001 – 2003), SA Marathon Champion (2008, 2011 and 2012) and Comrades Marathon Champion (2016) to mention just a few.

“I am not sure if any road races will take place in the next four months and I’ve always wanted to take part in the AfricanX Trailrun,” says Bosman.  “I did some trail running in December while on holiday in Jeffreys Bay and absolutely loved it.  I wanted to do it every day.  I love the toughness around it.  I don’t have a trail running background, but I have represented South Africa at six world cross country championships.  I actually started my running career as a cross country runner.”

“I am really looking forward to the AfricanX Trailrun,” continues Bosman.  “I’ll be teaming up with Karel Burger who’s no stranger to the sport.  We will be running for the Murray & Roberts Running Club.  Our team strength will definitely be our mental toughness and collective competition experience.  Our goal is to do well.  I am training on the trails every weekend.  I will do my homework to ensure that we do well.  I am really looking forward to this new experience.”
