“Let Nature Give You A Run For Your Money”

Event organisers, Stillwater Sports have confirmed that planning for the 11th annual AfricanX Trailrun, that is scheduled to take place at the Houw Hoek Hotel (Bot River, Overberg Region / Western Cape) on the weekend of 26 – 28 March 2021, is still underway with a contingency plan in place in the event of Level 3 Restrictions not being eased before then.

“The trail running community has welcomed the return of the AfricanX Trailrun in 2021,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports.  “We are waiting for the next State of the Nation Address.  Currently events are not permitted to take place under the Adjusted Level 3 Regulations.  With the AfricanX scheduled to take place at the end of March, we remain optimistic that restrictions will be eased and/or lifted.  For this reason, we are waiting to receive clarification on the new regulations before making a final call on whether the event can take place or not.  We will make the announcement no later than Monday 15 March 2021.”

“We realise that taking part in a three-day stage race requires a lot of planning from the entrant’s side,” continues Meyer.  “We are therefore sharing our contingency plan with runners.  In the event of postponement, the new date will be Friday 04 June 2021 – Sunday 06 June 2021 and existing entrants will have three options to choose from:  1. take part in the event in June, 2. rollover their entry to the 2022 event or 3. request a refund.  We are in constant communication with the local municipality and Disaster Management Officials not only to ensure the safety of runners and staff but also to keep up to date with adjusted requirements that will need to be met in order for an event to be allowed to take place.  We promise to keep all entrants updated on the latest developments.”

In light of the AfricanX being moved to the weekend of 04 – 06 June 2021, existing entrants will have three options to choose from:

– Attend the event in June (04 – 06 June 2021).
– Rollover your entry to the 2022 event.
– Request a refund in line with the AfricanX’s refund policy and still receive your event garment. To view the refund policy visit https://www.stillwatersports.com/event/africanx-trailrun/

Event organisers will make a final announcement no later than Monday 15 March 2021!
