SA’s MTB Party of the year, the Savanna Origin of Trails MTB Experience, will hit the streets of Stellenbosch this coming Saturday 18 November 2023. As the sun begins to set, riders staying over in the First Ascent Tented Village at Coetzenburg will embark on an exciting Pub Ride that will lead them to popular spots like Cognito Restaurant and De Akker Pub. The night will culminate at Casa Cerveza, when Pub Riders join fellow event entrants, sponsors, guests, and event organizers at the official Event Party!
“The Pub Ride offers a perfect way to unwind after an exhilarating day on the trails, all while uncovering Stellenbosch’s hidden treasures,” explains Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Event Founder. “Riders (that are staying over in the First Ascent Tented Village) will assemble in the Race Village at Coetzenburg Stellenbosch University from 16:00 on Saturday. Each participant will receive a goodie bag filled with snacks, a safety light for their bikes, and drink vouchers, along with their official Pub Ride accreditation. The adventure kicks off at 16:30, taking us past the Coetzenburg Cricket Field and up a slight hill to get the blood pumping. We’ll pause briefly for a quick photo opportunity before making our way into town.”
“Our first stop is Cognito Restaurant, where riders can enjoy their first round of drinks, courtesy of Heineken Beverages, along with some delectable snacks,” elaborates Meyer. “We encourage our riders not to exhaust all their vouchers here, as we have two more exciting stops in store. At Cognito, a secure bike park is available, and we’ve arranged for live entertainment by the talented Kezia Duo. Our next stop is at De Akker Pub, where more Heineken beverages await. Be ready for a surprise when it comes to entertainment at this leg of the journey.”
“Our grand finale takes us to Casa Cerveza, the vibrant venue for the official Savanna Origin of Trails party,” continues Meyer. “For those riders not staying in the First Ascent Tented Village but eager to join the festivities at Casa Cerveza, tickets can still be purchased at race pack collection or at the race office at Coetzenburg. Our guests will be treated to an electrifying live performance by The Electric on the main stage. To enhance the experience, an enticing selection of Heineken beverages will be available, perfectly complementing a light dinner. We look forward to enjoying a memorable evening with riders.
