Taking place at the Boschendal Farm Estate (The Retreat) on Saturday, 07 September 2019 and Sunday, 08 September 2019, the 5th annual Fedhealth MTB Challenge proudly supports the Stellenbosch Trail Fund (STF).

A registered non-profit organisation (NPO), STF is entirely funded by donations from local trail users and corporate sponsors. Since 2011 STF’s aim has been to create, improve and maintain – hiking, biking and running trails in and around the greater Stellenbosch.

“STF does a spectacular job building, improving and maintaining Stellenbosch’s much loved trails,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.  “As a Stellenbosch based sports marketing agency, we love Stellenbosch and are spoiled for choice when it comes to mountain-biking and trail running.  We are thankful to STF for going the extra mile ensuring that Stellenbosch’s off-road community get to enjoy world class trails on their doorstep.  We are proud to show our support by listing STF as a charity of the Fedhealth MTB Challenge.”

“We are blessed to live and work in one of the most beautiful parts of the world,” says Richard de Villiers, STF Founding Director.  “We want to be responsible stewards (keepers) of the natural resources entrusted to all of us. Effective stewardship is impossible without the support of the community.  All our trails are permit-free to enable everybody to enjoy our trails. We rely entirely on donations and support of the private and corporate community of Stellenbosch to build and maintain our trails. We value inclusivity in all its aspects and strive to work in partnership with all stakeholders and other local NPOs.”

“We are thankful to Stillwater Sports for including STF as a beneficiary of the Fedhealth MTB Challenge,” continues de Villiers.  “The event ticks all the boxes required to ensure a memorable mountain biking experience:  stunning routes, spectacular scenery, a great vibe and an amazing festival village.  Our vision is that STF will continue to expand its role in developing both the “bicycle” and “green” economies of the greater Stellenbosch, while helping to create and manage a seamless network of walking, hiking and bicycle trails that run through the heart of our town.  With the support received from the Fedhealth MTB Challenge and riders we will definitely be able to turn our vision into reality.”
