The Dafabet Warriors took their advantage at the table summit to 14 points in the CSA T20 Challenge after they won both their matches this week.

A summary of this week’s results;

DP World Lions vs Dafabet Warriors – DP World Wanderers, Johannesburg

The Dafabet Warriors extended their unbeaten run in the 2023/24 CSA T20 Challenge with a two-run victory over the DP World Lions at the Bullring on Wednesday.

Asked to bat first, Andile  Mogakane’s unbeaten half-century of 73* off 51 deliveries, along with contributions from Jordan Hermann (40) and Sinethemba Qeshile (22*), propelled the visitors to a total of 173/4.

Lions were well in with their response, Rassie van der Dussen leading the charge with 43 runs. His 53-run partnership with Temba Bavuma (28) steadied the innings after the early loss of their openers

However, it was Wiaan Mulder’s courageous 43 off 20 balls that ignited hope for the Lions, including three towering sixes in the penultimate over before he was dismissed by Alfred Mothoa (3/35).

Beyers Swanepoel (2/27) held his nerve, defending 12 runs in the final over to secure a narrow two-run win for the Warriors and Lions concluded their innings on 171/7.

World Sports Betting Western Province vs Dafabet Warriors – Boland Park, Paarl

The Dafabet Warriors continued their remarkable run in the 2023/24 T20 Challenge by winning an incredible eighth match in a row after crushing World Sports Betting Western Province by nine wickets in Paarl on Sunday.

Bowling first in the early game after losing the toss, the Warriors’ bowlers restricted Province to 142/7 with two wickets each for Nealan van Heerden (2/25) and Alfred Mothoa (2/36).

George Linde (30) top-scored with starts for plenty others, all of whom failed to kick on as the log-leaders took control.

In reply, Jiveshan Pillay (31) and Breetzke (62* off 48 balls, 5 fours, 2 sixes) put on 80 for the first wicket, before a marauding 20-ball 47* by Beyers Swanepoel, who clobbered six sixes, saw the Warriors charge to victory with 3.3 overs to spare.
