SA man arrested for Windhoek rape and murder

A 35-year-old South African man has appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder and rape of a 58-year-old Windhoek West woman. The lifeless body of Dina Diedericks was found this past Saturday evening in the backyard of her home.

It is alleged that Wilhelm Wimpie Derick Februarie had sexual intercourse under coercive circumstances with the victim and then strangled her.

He was arrested on Sunday and appeared in court on Tuesday afternoon.

It is alleged that on the evening of the murder, Diedericks had attended a party hosted by Februarie.

She returned home in her car with three other people, including the suspect.

According to Nampol Khomas Regional Crime Investigation Co-ordinator, Deputy Commissioner Sylvanus Nghishidimbwa, Diedericks’ car was driven by someone else, who dropped her off at home and handed the keys to her.
