Six dead after gunmen open fire on buses in Kenya

DPA

Six people died Friday when gunmen sprayed two
passenger buses with bullets in north-eastern Kenya, the newspapers
Daily Nation and Standard reported.

The attack, which the reports attributed to the Somali Islamist group
al-Shabaab, occurred between Elwak and Wargadud in Mandera county.

A police reservist who was on board to escort the passengers was
among those killed. Another reservist was injured. Officials were
unable to give the total number of injured victims.

Officials said non-locals living in the county would not be allowed
to travel by bus until the end of Ramadan – which comes next week –
due to the security threat posed by al-Shabaab.
