Visitors to the Paradise of the Zulu Kingdom enjoy a break from the summer heat by cooling off in the many rivers, lagoons, pools and golden beaches \u2013 six of which have Blue Flag status. But a wonderful seaside holiday can only be enjoyed by incorporating water safety practices at all times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 9.0pt; color: #7f7f7f;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; color: black;\">\u201cWe are so fortunate in our many water-based offerings that attract holidaymakers to the KZN South Coast,\u201d said Phelisa Mangcu, CEO of Ugu South Coast Tourism (USCT). \u201cWe are thrilled that six of our popular beaches have just been awarded the internationally-recognised Blue Flag status, the criteria of which includes compliance with national safety regulations. Our swimming beaches are all manned by exceptional lifeguards, and we encourage all beachgoers to take the necessary precautions to remain safe in the water over the festive season.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 9.0pt; color: #7f7f7f;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; color: black;\">Visitor safety and experience has also been enhanced with the deployment of Tourism Monitors at Margate Beach, St Michael\u2019s Beach, Hibberdene Beach and Scottburgh Beach. The 12-month Tourism Monitors Programme is being run by the National Department of Tourism (NDT) in partnership with AGB Group. This programmes trains and creates employment opportunities for youth who will patrol the beaches, report crimes and provide tourists with information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 9.0pt; color: #7f7f7f;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; color: black;\">To ensure visitors fully enjoy the KZN South Coast Summer Programme and other water-based activities, USCT has also shared water safety tips, with input from the NSRI (<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; color: #7f7f7f;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/click.icptrack.com\/icp\/relay.php?r=5092432&amp;msgid=207678&amp;act=RLNI&amp;c=1681970&amp;destination=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nsri.org.za%2F&amp;cf=6110&amp;v=14fd63385ca80a2f9e8c54578aaaf95150e8ad265f0d971a66e1b8c9e4065c9f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: black;\">www.NSRI.org.za<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt; color: black;\">). Only swim at beaches where and when lifeguards are on duty. Do not attempt to swim against it back to shore.
