Amsterdam\u2019s legendary\u00a0open-mindedness saw\u00a0homosexuality decriminalised way back in the early 1800\u2019s and the Netherlands\u00a0was the first country in the world to\u00a0welcome same-sex marriages back in 2001.\u00a0The city plays host to a number of LGBTQ+ events throughout the year and is\u00a0home to some of\u00a0the world\u2019s most popular gay bars \u2013 including Spijker Bar, a\u00a0gay bar which is considered the oldest and friendliest in Amsterdam. However,\u00a0there is so much more to Amsterdam\u2019s gay scene than it\u2019s many bars.<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><b class=\"\">Paris<\/b><br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>Paris is often named\u00a0the world\u2019s most romantic city \u2013 and with good reason. However, romance isn\u2019t\u00a0limited to cisgender couples only. In fact,\u00a0Paris has a vibrant gay scene which\u00a0is filled with both sophistication and romance. On top of visiting some of the\u00a0most romantic sites in the\u00a0world, Paris is also known for its exquisite food,\u00a0designer shops and picture-perfect settings. The city also boasts a variety of\u00a0bubbly gay bars\u00a0each boasting their own unique flair. Paris also hosts its own\u00a0pride at the end of every June which is a true celebration of the country\u2019s\u00a0queer\u00a0community.<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><b class=\"\">New York<\/b><br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>The modern gay liberation movement started in\u00a0New York City with the Stonewall riots in 1969 and today, New York is known as\u00a0the gay\u00a0capital of the world. Every June, the city unites to celebrate the\u00a0LGBTQ+ community with a variety of pride events but the truth is, the city has\u00a0a vibrant queer scene throughout the year.\u00a0Along with a\u00a0vibrant gay nightlife and a liberal population who have seen and done it all,\u00a0New York\u00a0was always destined to become one of the world\u2019s greatest gay cities.<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><b class=\"\">Tel Aviv<\/b><br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>Israel is another country that has proven to be progressive when it\u00a0comes to LGBTQ+ rights. In fact, the country\u2019s largest city Tel Aviv is one\u00a0of\u00a0the largest hotspots for gay tourism in the world. Tel Aviv is a city which not\u00a0only boasts a rich history, but its\u00a0beautiful\u00a0beaches situated\u00a0alongside the Mediterranean Sea, a bustling nightlife and\u00a0proud LGBTQ+ community. It\u2019s no wonder that tourists from around the world\u00a0flock\u00a0to the city who welcomes gay tourists with open arms.<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><b class=\"\">Berlin<\/b><br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>The German capital has\u00a0always been a city that goes against the grain and home to a thriving LGBTQ+\u00a0community. Sch\u00f6neberg, in the\u00a0south-west of the city, has long been the centre\u00a0of queer life and culture. The city is a massive tourist destination for queer\u00a0travellers thanks\u00a0to its shocking history, fascinating museums, quirky vintage\u00a0clothing stores, hip cocktail bars and that the city prides itself for having\u00a0something for everyone. Berlin Pride takes place in the second half of July and\u00a0has been held annually since 1979.<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><b class=\"\">Copenhagen<\/b><br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>Denmark\u00a0was the first country in the world to recognise same-sex partnerships in 1998,\u00a0making a pilgrimage to the beautiful cobblestone\u00a0capital, Copenhagen, a must\u00a0for any LGBTQ+ traveller. The city is home to Europe\u2019s oldest openly-gay bar\u00a0(with origins dating back to 1950)\u00a0and also the red light district of\u00a0Vesterbro. It\u2019s vast array of cocktail bars and trendy minimalist boutique\u00a0hotels offer stylish experiences in the\u00a0heart of one of the most tolerant\u00a0communities in Europe &#8211; often referred to as \u2018the most gay-friendly place on\u00a0earth\u2019.<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/>As the world opens its hearts and borders to\u00a0the LGBTQ+ community, Wilson Touro, Country Manager Southern Africa Air\u00a0France-KLM,\u00a0affirms that Air France-KLM remains committed to being a brand that\u00a0is both inclusive and diverse. \u201cAt Air France-KLM, it is incredibly\u00a0important\u00a0for our staff to be themselves in an environment that is safe and inclusive.
