Interesting to note, some of these skyscrapers (multi-story buildings whose architectural height is at least 100m) are part of individual countries\u2019 rigorous infrastructural development plans, meant to boost the continent\u2019s economic expansion in one way or another. Others have even acted as tourist attractions for years. While this list compiled by Jumia Travel focuses on the reigning top 10 Skyscrapers in Africa, the \u2018reigning\u2019 giants may soon be overtaken by upcoming projects such as the proposed 540m high Al Noor Tower in Casablanca, Morocco. 447m South Africa\u2019s Symbio City is also in the pipeline, while Hass Tower 1 (Nairobi Tower) in <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.jumia.com\/en-gb\/kenya-vacation-packages?ref=HP-PromoBanner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kenya<\/a> and Ghana\u2019s Hope City will stand at 300m and 270m respectively. With the completion of these and more proposed skyscrapers in Africa, we definitely will be writing a different script in just a few years.<\/p>\n<p>1. Carlton Center &#8211; Johannesburg (223m)<br \/>\nCarlton has been unrivaled for the last 4 decades since 1973, standing at 223m high with 50 floors. Located in Johannesburg, South Africa, the Center houses offices and shops and is linked to the Carlton Hotel. Grande Mosqu\u00e9e Hassan II \u2013 Casablanca, Morocco (210m)<br \/>\nTalk of skyscrapers and this religious building makes it second with its minaret standing tall at 210m \u2013 the largest in the world. Grande Mosqu\u00e9e Hassan II popularly known as the Hassan II Mosque is the largest in Morocco and the 7th in the world and is located in <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.jumia.com\/en-gb\/hotels\/morocco\/casablanca\/774?q=Casablanca&amp;checkin=2016-12-01&amp;checkout=2016-12-02&amp;roomCount=1&amp;adults=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Casablanca<\/a>. City Ponte Apartments &#8211; Johannesburg (173m)<br \/>\nAnother one of South Africa\u2019s Johannesburg, City Ponte is the tallest residential building in Africa with a height of 173m. The cylindrical skyscraper is 55-story high, whose core (the open center) allows extra light into the apartments. UAP Old Mutual Tower \u2013 Nairobi (163m)<br \/>\nThe highest building in Kenya\u2019s capital city of Nairobi that opened its doors earlier this year, houses offices in its 33-stories in the Upper Hill area. NECOM House &#8211; Lagos (160m)<br \/>\nFormerly known as NITEL Tower, NECOM House in Lagos is the tallest skyscraper in Nigeria and in the whole of West Africa at 160m. PSPF Commercial Twin Towers &#8211; Dar es Salaam (153m)<br \/>\nTanzania\u2019s PSPF Towers (A &amp; B) located <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.jumia.com\/en-gb\/hotels\/tanzania\/dar-es-salaam\/978?region=978-region&amp;q=Dar%20es%20Salaam&amp;checkin=2016-12-01&amp;checkout=2016-12-02&amp;roomCount=1&amp;adults=1&amp;children=0&amp;age1=7&amp;age2=7&amp;age3=7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dar es Salaam<\/a>, have a postmodern architectural style with 35 stories. Marble Tower &#8211; Johannesburg (152m)<br \/>\nSeventh on the list and third from Joburg, Marble Tower, previously Sanlam Center, largely consists of commercial offices and stands tall at 152m. The Pearls of Umhlanga \u2013 Durban (152m)<br \/>\nAlso at 152m and 31 floors, <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.jumia.com\/en-gb\/south-africa\/e493472\/the-pearls-of-umhlanga-umhlanga?region=e493472-hotel&amp;q=The+Pearls+of+Umhlanga&amp;checkin=2016-12-01&amp;checkout=2016-12-02&amp;roomCount=1&amp;adults=1&amp;children=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pearl Dawn<\/a> as it is commonly known is perhaps the most eye catching skyscraper in this list; due to its modern architecture and opulent style. Metlife Center &#8211; Cape Town (150m)<br \/>\nLocated on the foreshore of Cape Town in South Africa adjacent to the Cape Town International Convention Center in the City Bowl area, this skyscraper that takes position 10 on our list is also 150m high and has 28 floors.
