Travel Warning – South Africa has a very high level of crime and crime is the primary security threat for travellers. Violent crimes, such as armed robbery, rape, carjacking, mugging, murder, torture and “smash-and-grab” attacks on vehicles, are frequent and affect both visitors and residents alike.<\/p>\n

It is estimated that 18 people are shot and killed and between 18 and 72 survive gun violence every day in South Africa. This is according to 2009 figures.<\/p>\n
