All this forms part of the journey to a long-awaited holiday that we all love.

This year has shown us that travel plans can change unexpectedly. And Club Med, with a full understanding of how important the planning part of the travel journey is, has taken important measures to ensure that going forward, clients can book, look forward to and enjoy their next amazing holiday safe in the knowledge that their loved ones are taken care of every step of the way.

Book with peace of mind

COVID-19’s impact on travel plans has made holidaymakers keenly aware of the need for reassurance and flexibility when it comes to their bookings should the unexpected occur. With this in mind, Club Med launched their Peace of Mind policy. Under this banner, when clients book their Club Med holiday, they now have the option to change their travel plans up to 21 days before the departure date. With different options available to travellers in the event of them needing to make a change, this policy goes a long way to ensure one feels in control every step of the way.

Holiday with peace of mind

The need for assurance does not end when holidaymakers get to their chosen destination. In these uncertain times families, couples and friends are looking for holidays and holiday operators that offer them the comfort of knowing that should any emergency arise, they are taken care of.

In addition to the Peace of Mind policy, not only have Club Med implemented extra hygiene measures at all their resorts, in partnership with Europ Assistance, they now provide a COVID-19 Emergency Assist Program for all guests traveling to their resorts until April 30th, 2021. This means should a guest at their resorts be affected by a COVID-19 related illness, all healthcare expenses during their stay are covered.

In the event of illness (including COVID disease) the program includes (within the limits established by the contract*): –

  • Hospitalisation including: –
    • Housing cost for companion
    • Accompaniment of children
    • Medical evacuation and repatriation following accident and/or illness according to the decision of the Medical Board of Europ Assistance
  • In case of confinement, the assistance centre will organise housing along with the Resort and the health personnel.
  • If the client missed their intended flight, the assistance centre will take charge and organise a new return flight following the sanitary requirements established by the health team.

Cost coverage in the event of illness (including COVID disease) includes:

  • Medical expenses abroad up to €75,000 equivalent incl. tax / beneficiary.
  • Advance on hospitalisation costs incurred abroad up to €75,000 equivalent incl. tax per beneficiary.
  • The cost of an extended stay at the hotel: €80 equivalent per night incl. tax and € 150 equivalent incl. tax for a family/10 nights maximum.

Important to note is in the case of a declaration of a State of Emergency which results in border and resort closures, and the stay of a client being interrupted thereafter, no cover will be provided. Additionally, should a client be quarantined as a result of the above without being sick, no cover will be provided.

With several countries now requesting a certificate of insurance confirming coverage of medical expenses in case of sickness, including COVID-19, in order to enter a country or to obtain a travel visa, the need for medical assistance cover such as the one provided by Club Med and Europ Assistance could not have come at a better time. This document will be provided by Club Med on request to those who take on the cover.
